Why FADEP?

FADEP provides the opportunity for connection and empowerment amongst the individuals who work with dual enrollment students throughout the state. As an academic advisor, I am constantly searching for new ways to provide my counselors with more information about dual enrollment and the opportunity it can provide their students as well as new ways to assist our current and future dual enrollment students. Dual Enrollment is continuing to grow across the state and this organization is going to provide encouragement, support, and resources to every member to help their institutions provide a great experience to their students.

How does your background/ experience with dual enrollment add to the new FADEP organization?

I have been working with dual enrollment students as an academic advisor for three years and during this time I have watched the program grow amongst our three campuses. I have built relationships with the school counselors and amongst the other dual enrollment advisors that helps me understand the high school and college side of dual enrollment. I have assisted with enrollment materials, counselor conference preparation, as well as presented at our annual counselor conference on how academic advisors advise dual enrollment students. My experience as a dual enrollment advisor will help the organization with current issues facing our students, specifically in central Florida. I believe it is important to have a representation from various areas of the states as programs differ as well as the students in general. I would love the opportunity to help grow FADEP to be a strong resource and community for secondary and postsecondary individuals working with dual enrollment students.
