Why FADEP?

FADEP is an excellent opportunity to bring concurrent enrollment (CE) programs together throughout the state of Florida. Currently, most dual credit programs in Florida reside within a College or University. CE programs face a unique set of challenges being hosted within a high school campus. FADEP will provide the support necessary to navigate these challenges. FADEP network will allow for the sharing of best practices as members navigate meeting the high standards for NACEP accreditation. This body can also assist with advocating for appropriate legislative policies that would support the further growth and development of CE programs.

How does your background/ experience with dual enrollment add to the new FADEP organization?

For the last 7 years I have led a growing CE program for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. When I started we had a handful of programs and served less than 500 students. Today, we have over 90 high schools and serve close to 3,000 students. We have an amazing team who works hard to ensure program integrity. We have learned multiple lessons along the way. In addition, I've spent the last 20 years as an elected school board member in Flagler County. Both of these experiences have provided me with an abundance of learning opportunities in regards to legislative and advocacy issues, policy development, professional development, building upon initiatives, collaborating with stakeholders and creating partnerships. I believe all of these experiences would help serve FADEP and the membership well.
