Florida Gulf Coast University

Director, Accelerated Collegiate Experience

FADEP Position: Treasurer

Why FADEP?

Florida has a very robust dual enrollment program - one of, if not the best in the nation! As accelerated mechanisms, especially dual-enrollment, continue to increase in popularity, it is key to have a unified organization to address best practices, legislative changes, advocacy, and professional development of dual and concurrent enrollment professionals. FADEP can serve as the central communication body and connection to professionals across the state. I look forward to the opportunity to help shape our new state organization, but more importantly to connect other dual and concurrent enrollment professionals from all levels with each other. Support, both professionally and personally, has an immense impact on performance and overall well-being, especially in an ever-changing environment like education.

How does your background/ experience with dual enrollment add to the new FADEP organization?

I am currently the Director of the Accelerated Collegiate Experience program at Florida Gulf Coast University. Our program is a full-time, early admission program. While small, the students in our program consistently perform exceptionally well and are actively engaged in the campus community through service, leadership, and research. We have recently initiated a hybrid concurrent-dual enrollment program with one of our local high schools, with plans to expand to a second high school in 2021. I have coordinated the implementation of this program and learned a lot through the process. Prior to my current position, I worked with dual enrollment students as an academic advisor. I believe I have a solid grasp on the challenges our students face and am comfortable advocating for their success at all levels. I believe in seeking input from others and would love to see a vibrant, connected dual and concurrent enrollment community of professionals across the state.
